Con-Text is a project that explored contextual awareness when people are messaging. The interaction design field has a lot to learn about awareness during remote communications, and Con-text is a contribution to this. Con-text providers users with contextual information of the person who sent them a message. The contextual information provided is: weather, location, local time, and mood. According to my research, miscommunication during text messaging can be partly attributed to the lack of contextual insight. Furthermore, my research showed that contextual information enhances the ability of users to empathize and also better interpret the "deeper" meaning of the message. More work needs to be done for feature applications such as Con-text to solve the problem of awareness during remote communication. Particular attention should be paid to user privacy and security. The solution is out there, and I'm one step closer ;)
